How to Find White Cliffs.
Location: White Cliffs is 95 kms north of Wilcannia which is located on the Barrier Highway 200 kms east of Broken Hill in the Far West of NSW: 800 kms from Adelaide, 1200 kms from both Melbourne and Sydney. Via those routes all roads are sealed. Broken Hill has multiple daily flights from Sydney and Adelaide as well as being on the rail link and bus route.
Turn off the Barrier Highway at Wilcannia, midway between Broken Hill and Cobar and travel on a fully sealed road one hour north to White Cliffs. This unique town has a variety of opal showrooms, galleries and spots where you can fossick. There is take-away and limited groceries at the General Store; the Red Earth Opal Showroom & Cafe for light meals; dinners available at the Underground Motel (bookings by 4 p.m. required), free bbq's at the caravan park and a great watering hole at the White Cliffs Hotel/Motel.

Our community of less than 200 people has one Hotel-Motel and the Underground Motel, a caravan park and camping areas up around the opal fields where you can try your luck 'noodling' on any of the 50,000 abandoned dumps.
